"Politics in the Age of the Participatory Web" is the title of a lecture by author Steven Johnson set for 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 21, in McCosh 50.
Johnson, a contributing editor to Wired magazine, is the author of six books on the intersection of technology, science and modern life. His lecture will argue against those who maintain that the Internet has fragmented society by enabling people to filter out voices with viewpoints different from their own. Johnson contends that the Internet promotes a diversity far more comprehensive than older forms of media.
The talk is designated as a Stafford Little Lecture sponsored by the University Public Lecture Series.
