Butler College celebration set

Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009, 4:30 p.m. Butler Green, adjacent to Elm Drive

The opening of the renovated Butler College will be celebrated at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, on Butler Green, adjacent to Elm Drive.

Featured speakers at the event, which is open to all members of the University community, will be: Sanjeev Kulkarni, Butler College master and professor of electrical engineering; President Shirley M. Tilghman; architect Henry Cobb of Pei Cobb Freed & Partners of New York; Nancy Peretsman, a 1976 alumna and co-chair of the Aspire campaign; and Christine Prifti, a junior and Butler resident.

Butler re-opened this fall after more than two years of construction. With five new dormitories joining two existing dormitories to house undergraduates in all four classes, it is the final piece in the implementation Princeton's new four-year residential college program. Many sustainability features are included in the new complex, included green roofs on more than 50 percent of the buildings.
