Japanese puppet masters to perform

Master puppeteers and musicians from Japan's Imada Puppet Troupe will present "The Magic of Japanese Puppet Theater" at 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, in the Frist Campus Center theater.

Four master performers from the troupe will be featured in the demonstrations of traditional Japanese puppetry, assisted by members of the Bunraku Bay Puppet Troupe, based at the University of Missouri.

The matinee performance will include a puppetry demonstration and a question-and-answer session. The Saturday evening program will include selections from four plays.

University ID holders can obtain up to two free tickets for the performances. For the general public, tickets are $3 for children 12 and under, and $5 for adults. Tickets are available at the Frist Ticket Office.

The event is sponsored by the David A. Gardner '69 Magic Project, Forbes College, the Program in East Asian Studies and the Davis International Center.
