Concert features music from colonial America

Sunday, Jan. 3, 2010, 3 p.m. Main gallery, Firestone Library

The Practitioners of Musick will perform a concert of colonial American selections, titled "Music for Colonists, Patriots and Presidents," at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 3, in the main gallery of Firestone Library.

Flutist John Burkhalter and harpsichordist Donovan Klotzbeacher founded the Practitioners of Musick in 1999 to survey the musical riches of 17th- and 18th-century Great Britain and Ireland and the colonial and early federal periods in America. Their concert will include a diverse selection of the favorite music of Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, and George and Martha Washington.

The free concert is sponsored by the Friends of the Princeton University Library. For further information, contact Linda Oliveira at or (609) 258-3155.
