Kevrekidis named fellow of industrial and applied math society

Princeton chemical engineer Yannis Kevrekidis has been named a fellow of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics in recognition of his "research contributions in chemical engineering, applied mathematics and the computational sciences."

Princeton University emeritus professor Christodoulos "Chris" Floudas, who applied the disciplines of mathematics and chemical engineering to complex systems that include protein folding and fuel refining, died Aug. 14 while vacationing with his family in Greece. He was 56.

Nineteen faculty members transfer to emeritus status .

Nineteen Princeton University faculty members were transferred to emeritus status in recent action by the Board of Trustees. Transfers are effective July 1, 2017.

Seven receive Guggenheim Fellowships .

Seven Princeton faculty members are among the 186 artists, scholars and scientists selected from more than 3,000 applicants for 2005 Guggenheim Fellowships.

FACULTY AWARD: Holmes named industrial and applied math society fellow .

The Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) has named Philip Holmes, Princeton's Eugene Higgins Professor of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering, to its 2011 class of fellows for his "extensive contributions to nonlinear dynamics."
