David Langiulli, an executive with more than 20 years of experience spanning the corporate and higher education sectors, has been appointed director of corporate and foundation relations at Princeton. His appointment was effective June 28.

Reporting to Dean for Research A.J. Stewart Smith and working closely with the University's Office of Development, Langiulli is responsible for leading a team that builds partnerships with corporations and foundations that result in gifts, research awards and research collaborations to support a wide range of University-wide, departmental and program needs. He will develop and implement strategic plans that support the research and funding priorities of the University.

"David comes to us with broad experience and demonstrated excellence in university-corporate relations, development and technology licensing," Smith said. "Our search committee was impressed with his professional track record, his deep understanding of science and technology, and his leadership capabilities. We look forward to future growth and success with the strong team in Princeton's Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations under his direction."

Prior to joining the Princeton staff, Langiulli since 2008 served as the senior director of development at Stony Brook University, where he supported the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Previously, he held senior positions in development and technology transfer at several universities, including San Francisco State University, the University of Wyoming and Rutgers University. He also served as vice president of AbsolutelyNew, a San Francisco-based product development company.

"I consider it a great honor and privilege to be at Princeton strengthening the University's ties with corporations and foundations," Langiulli said. "We have a capable and enthusiastic team that is well positioned to expand relationships with industry and support from private foundations. In collaboration with Dean Smith, I look forward to building upon the strong service ethic of the Office of the Dean for Research in supporting Princeton's exceptional faculty and students."

Langiulli holds a bachelor's degree in physics engineering and mathematics from Washington and Lee University, a master's degree in materials science from Columbia University, and a master's degree in management and policy from Stony Brook.
