Earthquake in Virginia felt on Princeton campus

A magnitude 5.9 earthquake north of the Richmond, Va., area was felt by most populations east of the Mississippi River, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. Aftershocks are always possible.

For members of the Princeton University community seeking tips for how to manage safety issues surrounding earthquakes, emergency tips are available on the emergency preparedness page on the University's website. Safety tips are also available from the U.S. Geological Survey.

The Department of Public Safety reports that anyone on campus who was evacuated from their building can return.
