UPDATE: OIT restores access to survey website

The Office of Information Technology (OIT) has restored Princeton University campus network access to the website of SurveyMonkey, a widely used survey tool.

Access to the site had been blocked earlier today in a precautionary measure after a fraudulent email was sent to members of the campus community. The email, which showed that it was sent from info@princeton.edu, contained a link to a SurveyMonkey page and advised recipients that they could upgrade their mail accounts by clicking the link. OIT determined the message was a fraudulent "phishing" email that could put users' account and password information at risk if they were to click the link.

Representatives from OIT and SurveyMonkey worked to assess the threat caused by the phishing email before campus network access to the site was restored.
