FACULTY AWARD: Two Princeton professors honored by National Academy of Sciences for outstanding research

Two Princeton University professors were among 18 researchers nationwide recognized by the National Academy of Sciences in 2013 for their achievement in the physical, biological and social sciences.

Asif Ghazanfar, an associate professor of psychology and the Princeton Neuroscience Institute, received one of two 2013 Troland Research Awards presented to outstanding young investigators in experimental psychology. Ghazanfar was recognized for advancing the understanding of human communication by exploring the evolution, development and neural basis for primate communication.

Edward Taylor, the A. Barton Hepburn Professor of Organic Chemistry, Emeritus, received the 2013 NAS Award for Chemistry in Service to Society. Taylor was honored for his work that led to the development of the new-generation antifolate pemetrexed (AlimtaTM), which exhibits unprecedented activity against a variety of solid tumors and is now in use in more than 100 countries.
