Trial reenactment features student actors

Thursday, April 3, 2014, 4:30 p.m. Lewis Library, Room 120

Princeton's Critical Encounters series will present "The Case of 22 Lewd Chinese Women," a reenactment of the 1876 trial Chy Lung v. Freeman — the first time Chinese litigants ever appeared before the U.S. Supreme Court — at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, April 3, in the Lewis Library, Room 120. The event features Princeton student readers directed by R. N. Sandberg, a lecturer in English, theater and the Lewis Center for the Arts, and is cosponsored by the Department of English, the Program in Law and Public Affairs, the Center for African American Studies, the Lewis Center for the Arts and the Asian American Students Association.
