Huffington, Slaughter will discuss 'redefining success'
Arianna Huffington, chair, president and editor-in-chief of the Huffington Post Media Group, will discuss her latest book, "Thrive: The Third Metric to Redefining Success and Creating a Life of Well-Being, Wisdom and Wonder," at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 22 in Richardson Auditorium, Alexander Hall, on the Princeton University campus. Tickets are needed for the event.
Huffington will discuss her book with Anne-Marie Slaughter, president and CEO of the New America Foundation and Princeton professor emerita. The event "Redefining Success" will focus on the need to create a definition of success that extends beyond the boardroom and considers personal well-being.
This event is sponsored by the Princeton University Women’s Center, and is open to Princeton University ID holders at no cost. Princeton University faculty, staff and students can pick up tickets by presenting a PUID at the University Ticketing Office in Frist Campus Center beginning on Monday, April 14. A wait-line for faculty, staff and students will form at Richardson Auditorium the evening of the event for non-ticket holders.
In "Thrive," Huffington identifies our relentless pursuit of money and power — the two traditional metrics of success — as the cause of an epidemic of burnout and stress-related illnesses, and an erosion in the quality of our relationships, family life and careers.
Slaughter helped spawn a renewed national debate on the lasting obstacles to genuine full male-female equality with her article "Why Women Still Can’t Have It All," which appeared in The Atlantic in 2012, and quickly became the most read article in the history of the magazine.
