Princeton University Press picks new distribution service

Princeton University Press has selected Perseus Academic, a division of Perseus Distribution Services, to provide book fulfillment and distribution services beginning in spring 2015.

This new arrangement will facilitate more effective book distribution in order to keep up with changes in the business of print publishing, including greater print-on-demand and short-run digital printing. The collaboration will also enable Princeton University Press to invest further in digital publishing operations.

Following the change, California Princeton Fulfillment Services Inc., an independent book fulfillment and distribution operation in Ewing, New Jersey, which is jointly owned by Princeton University Press and University of California Press, will be closed in spring 2015.

"In recent years, both presses have made changes to production processes, technology systems, and distribution infrastructure in an effort to remain current and competitive in today's rapidly changing market," said Peter Dougherty, director of the Princeton University Press. "Engaging the services of Perseus is a big step forward in implementing this series of changes, and it will allow both presses to focus on their mission of developing exceptional scholarly publications for a global audience."
