Conference to focus on 'Immigrants in the Military in Modern America'
A two-day conference titled "Patriots or Invaders? Immigrants in the Military in Modern America" will highlight contributions to military sociology and draw attention to the significant role played by the armed forces in processes of immigrant assimilation and adaptation. The conference, directed by Edward Telles, a professor of sociology, will feature top researchers and writers on immigration and the U.S. armed forces. The event will begin at 9 a.m. Friday, May 23, and Saturday, May 24, in the Friend Center Convocation Room.
