Partial Faculty Road closure July 11-16 will affect traffic, Dinky service

Beginning this week, construction on Faculty Road by NJ TRANSIT will affect traffic patterns and Dinky service.

From 5 a.m. Friday, July 11, through the evening rush hour Wednesday, July 16, Faculty Road will be closed from Alexander Street to Elm Drive due to the construction of grade crossing improvements and  road and sidewalk improvements. No vehicles will be able to enter or leave Faculty Road via Alexander Street. There also will be no vehicular, bike or pedestrian access through the construction area.

In addition, NJ TRANSIT buses will replace the Dinky rail shuttle service between Princeton and Princeton Junction on July 12-13 and some mid-day, off-peak hours July 14-15. The schedule and bus stop locations for the TigerPaWW bus service between Princeton and Princeton Junction stations will not be affected during the Faculty Road closure.

During the closure, vehicles will be able to access Elm Drive — and the West Garage (Lot 7) and the west campus parking lots (23, 16, 20, 32) — by traveling on Faculty Road from Washington Road. Cars leaving the campus from Elm Drive will travel on Faculty Road to Washington Road.

Two-way traffic will be maintained on Alexander Street during the Faculty Road closure except for three nights — Sunday, July 13, Monday, July 14, and Tuesday, July 15 — when there will be milling and paving work at the intersection of Faculty Road and Alexander Street. Hours for the overnight work are 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. During these evenings, police will be on site and traffic will be alternated through the intersection.

Detour signs will be posted for those walking, biking and driving through the area, and maps and general directions may be found online.

Temporary bus service

On the weekend of July 12-13, NJ TRANSIT buses will replace the rail shuttle service between Princeton and Princeton Junction. The buses also will replace the rail shuttle service from 9:25 a.m. to 3:25 p.m. on Monday, July 14, and Tuesday, July 15.

Buses will depart from the bus stop near the rail platform on the westbound side of the station at Princeton Junction and at the bus stop on Alexander Street adjacent to the parking lot and temporary rail station in Princeton.
