FACULTY HONOR: Bass wins Bernard Schwartz Book Award

Gary Bass, a professor of politics and international affairs, has been named the winner of the 2014 Bernard Schwartz Book Award for his book, "The Blood Telegram: Nixon, Kissinger, and a Forgotten Genocide." The Bernard Schwartz Book Award, presented by the Asia Society Policy Institute, recognizes nonfiction books for their outstanding contributions to the understanding of contemporary Asia or U.S.-Asia relations. Bass will be presented with a prize and honored at a special event to be held at the Asia Society's headquarters in New York City later this year.

Gary J. Bass, a professor of politics and international affairs, is the winner of the 2014 Lionel Gelber Prize for his most recent book, "The Blood Telegram: Nixon, Kissinger, and a Forgotten Genocide." The Lionel Gelber Prize honors the world's best nonfiction book on foreign affairs. The prize is presented annually by the Lionel Gelber Foundation in partnership with Foreign Policy magazine and the Munk School of Global Affairs at the University of Toronto.

FACULTY AWARD: Bass receives Cundill Prize for 'Blood Telegram' .

Gary Bass, a professor of politics and international affairs, is the winner of the Cundill Prize in Historical Literature for his book, "The Blood Telegram: Nixon, Kissinger, and a Forgotten Genocide." The Cundill Prize is given annually to an individual who has published a book "determined to have a profound literary, social and academic impact in the area of history." NEWS BRIEF: Gellman plays big role in Washington Post Pulitzer; Bass a finalist .

Washington Post reporter Barton Gellman, a visiting professional specialist at the Woodrow Wilson School and a visiting lecturer in public and international affairs, was the lead reporter on a series of stories about the National Security Agency's global surveillance programs that was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for public service Monday. Gellman has played a key role in projects awarded two previous Pulitzer Prizes.

Milley, Heckman to receive top alumni awards .

Princeton University will present its top honors for alumni to Gen. Mark Milley, chief of staff of the U.S. Army, and James Heckman, a Nobel laureate in economics who is on the faculty of the University of Chicago.

Wailoo named 2021 Dan David Prize winner .

Keith Wailoo, the Henry Putnam University Professor of History and Public Affairs at Princeton University, is a recipient of the 2021 Dan David Prize for his work in the history of health and medicine.

Eight students receive 2008 Spirit of Princeton Award .

Eight students have been named winners of the 2008 Spirit of Princeton Award, which honors Princeton undergraduates for their positive contributions to campus life. The award recognizes students who have demonstrated a strong commitment to the undergraduate experience through contributions to student organizations, athletics, community service, religious life, residential life and the arts.

Robert Keohane wins Skytte Prize in Political Science .

Robert O. Keohane, an influential political scientist who recently joined the Princeton faculty, has been named the recipient of the prestigious Johan Skytte Prize in Political Science for 2005.
