Ruth Singleton, a veteran writer and editor and a Princeton alumna, has been named senior writer in the Office of the President. Singleton will start her new position Sept. 21.

"Ruth Singleton is a superb writer and nationally recognized editor," said President Christopher L. Eisgruber. "Her experience makes her a perfect fit for her new assignment, and I am delighted that she has chosen to return to the campus where she excelled as a student."

Singleton earned her bachelor's degree in English from Princeton in 1982 and her law degree in 1991 from New York University School of Law.

As senior writer, she will assist Eisgruber in preparing addresses, correspondence and other communication materials. She will manage the website for the Office of the President and collaborate with other communications professionals inside and outside the University with regard to the president's written or spoken words, photos and videos, and social media.

Singleton comes to Princeton from New York Law School, where she is chief editor and writer and drafts communications on behalf of the dean. She has 18 years of experience as an editor at The National Law Journal and served as managing editor from 2008 to 2013.

Singleton also has experience in working on a range of publications in higher education, such as strategic plan reports, admission materials and alumni magazine articles. Earlier in her career she worked as an attorney and in book publishing.
