UPDATE: Power outage briefly affects some University buildings

A power outage in the town of Princeton on Wednesday evening briefly affected a number of buildings along the western edge of the Princeton campus and several University-owned residences off campus.

A tree fell in the town of Princeton near the intersection of Mercer Road and Hale Drive, knocking down four power poles. PSE&G crews restored power about 7:30 p.m.

The power was out to campus buildings and nearby residences in a line stretching from the intersection of Mercer Road and Nassau Street, along University Place and Alexander Road.

Because of severe storms that moved through the area Monday, Aug. 16, Faculty Road between Washington Road and Harrison Street remains closed, and is expected to be closed throughout the morning of Tuesday, Aug. 17. Faculty, staff and students that typically arrive on campus via Faculty Road and Washington Road should plan alternate routes due to downed tree limbs and power lines. Alexander Road is open, and Washington Road is accessible via Nassau Street.

University advises on shelter facilities, road closures from storm .

The University is making temporary shelter services available at Dillon Gym to members of the Princeton campus community who are experiencing power outages or loss of hot water as a result of the thunderstorms of Saturday and Sunday, March 13-14. Public Safety also is encouraging community members to plan their routes to account for road closures in the immediate future.

Campus residents displaced by storms being sheltered in Frist .

Public Safety is assisting residents of the Butler Apartments who were affected by the severe thunderstorms that moved through the area shortly before 5 p.m. Aug. 16 by establishing a shelter in the Frist Multipurpose Room. Cots and toiletries are available, and Dining Services is making food and beverages available to Butler residents who were not allowed to return to their homes.

Faculty Road closed; drivers should plan alternate route—UPDATED 4:20 p.m .

Faculty Road on campus between Elm Drive and FitzRandolph Road continues to be closed Monday, Jan. 25, because of fallen electrical wires. Vehicles leaving campus may exit via the Elm Drive circle off Faculty Road and travel west toward Alexander Street. Vehicles parked in Lot 21 should exit the lot via FitzRandolph Road.

University plans early release March 15 due to road closures .

Because of area road closures that are impeding traffic flow in the region, the University has set an early release time of 3 p.m. Monday, March 15, for non-essential personnel. Managers will provide direction for their staff members to leave between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. to ease traffic congestion during rush hour. All academic schedules continue.

1:45 P.M. Oct. 31 UPDATE - Roads reopened, power restored after storm .

Individuals traveling to the Princeton University campus may experience delays Monday, Oct. 31, because of road closures caused by the storm that moved trough the area over the weekend. The Stanworth Apartments graduate housing complex also is experiencing power failures.

Because of power outages and road closures in the wake of Hurricane Irene, Princeton University will be closed except for critical and essential staff on Monday, Aug. 29.
