Office of the Dean for Research

The Dean for Research is the senior University officer responsible for advancing research at Princeton. The dean oversees the solicitation of research funding, implements Princeton’s research policies, and helps to shape the research priorities of the University. The dean also supervises certain research units. A.J. Stewart Smith, the Class of 1909 Professor of Physics, has served as dean for research since 2006.

Offices reporting to the Dean for Research:

The Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations builds strategic partnerships with corporations and foundations in support of research and programs across all academic areas.

The Office of Research and Project Administration administers government grants and sponsored research and is responsible for compliance and regulatory matters.

The Office of Technology Licensing promotes technology transfer through the patenting and licensing of discoveries made in Princeton laboratories.

The University Research Board provides administrative oversight of research at Princeton.
