GEO: Hollywood Science Gone Bad
Let’s face it—most of the science in Hollywood movies is a bunch of malarky. We want to show you what’s probable, what’s possible, and what’s totally made up, starting with the high-octane Hollywood blockbuster, The Core, a 2003 disaster film in which a team must save Earth and humanity by drilling to the center of the Earth. Professor Jeroen Tromp will talk about the good and bad science portrayed in the movie and will hold a Q&A session after the screening. Popcorn and drinks will be served. Sponsored by Geosciences and PUGS.
Audience: Open to all students, staff, and faculty.
