Erica Cao
As a freshmen with interests in the humanities, arts, and sciences, I eventually discovered a perfect fusion of my interests by majoring in Psychology and pursuing a Certificate in Musical Performance in piano. After initial struggle and indecision, I committed myself to the pre-med track, and delighted in unexpected flexibility that being pre-med allowed for me to pursue my own areas of interest.
My extracurricular interests focus on the intersections of music, psychology, and medicine. I'm part of the Mathey Council (Arts and Culture), Music in Mind, Music is Medicine, Student Concerts Advisory Committee, Triple 8 Dance Co, and Healthy Minds Peer Advising. I was a PACE breakout trip leader, proposed a PACE "create your own" summer internship, and volunteered at the University Medical Center at Princeton, all of which were wonderful experiences that allowed me to explore the effects of music on health. I've also worked at the Mendel Music Library and as a research assistant in psychology. Currently, I'm applying to international fellowships.
