Maddy McMahon
Hi, my name is Maddy McMahon. I’m a senior in the History department, pursuing certificates in European Cultural Studies, Latin Language & Culture, and Medieval Studies, but I also seriously considered the English and Religion departments. Some of my favorite classes have included HUM 216-219 (the Humanities Sequence), REL/JDS 230 “The Hebrew Bible & Ancient Israel,” ENG 328 “Anglo-Dutch Literature in the 17 th Century,” and ECS 350 “History of Books & Readers.” I’ve also really enjoyed studying abroad through the Princeton in Spain program, the Pembroke-Kings Programme at Cambridge, and Living Latin in Rome (a spoken Latin program).
My senior thesis, for which I'm traveling to several cities in the UK, is about Elizabethan bishops' historical scholarship, and the relationship between their historical methods and theology. On campus, I'm involved in Mathey's Firestone Society, play viola in the Princeton University Orchestra, and am involved in the Aquinas Institute. I enjoy books, early modern European history, and Halo Pub ice cream. Get in touch if you have questions about study abroad, music, the humanities, distribution requirements—or just to introduce yourself!
