The Very Best RCA's in the Universe!
Elektra Alivisatos, '14

Welcome to to Mathey College (and Princeton, too)! I am so excited to be an RCA in Campbell this year. I hail from the exotic town of Princeton (NJ...not Missouri...or elsewhere), though I'm originally from Washington, D.C. I am a junior in the Anthropology department and the Global Health and Health Policy Certificate Program. On campus I am involved in Undergraduate Student Government, Greening Princeton, the Princeton Equality Project, and I also dance flamenco (Spanish dance...think long ruffled skirts and castanets).
This summer I interned at National Institutes of Health for a pediatric endocrinologist doing genetics research. It's been a very new experience, since I have never really worked in a lab, but I'm loving the opportunity to explore a different part of public health. Last summer, I interned at the Caribbean Environmental Health Institute in St. Lucia through the International Internship Program. It was amazing to say the least.
A few other factoids: I am a huge rap aficionado (ATCQ , The Roots, or Nas anyone?!), and music in general (Bob Dylan, Vampire Weekend, Paul Simon, Dixie Chicks, Andrew Bird, etc.). I also enjoy reading for pleasure when I get the chance (David Sedaris!), cooking/finding hole in the wall restaurants, yoga, listening to NPR (Wait Wait Don't Tell Me!, The Splendid Table, Planet Money, This American Life) and really just hanging out with my friends. I also love 30 Rock, Parks and Rec., Modern Family (viewing parties/study breaks, perhaps?!). Anyway, I can't wait to get to know new Matheyites! See you soon!
