Hi Mathey! I am a second-year Ph.D. student in Urban Policy at the Woodrow Wilson School, and a first-year member of Mathey College.
I was born and raised in West Philadelphia, where my heart remains.
After studying Physics and Math as an undergrad at Harvard University, I returned home to teach at West Philadelphia High School and received a Master's of Education at the University of Pennsylvania. I'm generally interested in the internal structure of cities, particularly how populations get segregated spatially, economically, and within networks, along race and class distinctions, and how that segregation impacts the outcomes of individuals and the city as a whole. My other passions in life include citywalking, crossword puzzles, and overthinking pop-culture. I have been told that I have strong opinions about things which are inappropriate to have strong opinions about.
I am very excited to be a part of the Mathey community, and please don't hesitate to approach me with any questions, comments, concerns, suggestions, ideas, palindromes, or simple hellos. I look forward to getting to know you!
