English Discussion Groups for International Graduate Students and Post-Docs

The English Language Program invites you to join a discussion group for international graduate students and post docs.  Our discussion groups give students the opportunity to meet in small groups to discuss a variety of topics.  Participants choose topics and lead the discussions.  An ELP instructor facilitates and offers constructive feedback on language issues.  The focus of the group can be expanded to practice presentation skills as well. When possible an American undergraduate student joins the group.

ELP Workshops

The ELP offers a variety of workshops for international graduate students and post-docs.  Past workshop topics included Delivering Effective Presentations, Pronunciation Workshops, Small Talk and Writing Effective Emails. Our workshops are offered during semester breaks.  For dates and times check Upcoming Events on the McGraw Center’s homepage.

Teaching Support for International AIs

The ELP offers services for graduate students who are currently teaching.  If you feel that you might benefit from additional English language support, we offer individual meetings and/or classroom visits to all types of classes (lecture, lab, or precept).  ELP instructors provide feedback on the effectiveness of your spoken English in the classroom setting.  You can contact us at any point during the semester.  The individual meetings and class visits are not evaluative and the details about our meetings are discussed only with you.

For more information or to sign up for our programs, email us at ELP@princeton.edu or call the English Language Program at 609-258-6929.
