Fall Break Workshops

The English Language Program (ELP) is offering 2 workshops during fall break for International Students and Post Docs.

How to Write Effective Emails

Are you sure the emails you send deliver the exact message you intend? Often non-native speakers inadvertently send emails that native-speakers find confusing or even offensive.  Please join us if you would like to learn how to avoid common mistakes in writing emails.

Developing and Delivering Effective Presentations

This is a 2 day workshop during fall break. In order to have the greatest benefit from this workshop it is necessary to attend both sessions.

  • Day 1: Tuesday, October 29 from 12:30-2:00pm
The ELP staff will present the elements of well structured and clearly delivered presentations for American audiences.  Lunch will be served.
  • Day 2: Wednesday, October 30 from 10:00am-12:00pm or 2:00-4:00 pm
Participants return to give an 8-10 minute videotaped presentation on a topic of their choice. Participants will receive feedback from the instructor and their peers.  In addition, they will be sent the video of their presentation and offered the opportunity to review it in greater detail with an ELP instructor.
