6/12- Congratulations to undergraduates Jessie Gu and Devorah Haberman who have graduated and will be off in the next phase of their careers.

5/12- The lab attends the American Society for Mass Spectrometry conference in Vancouver, Canada.  We had 5 posters (Barry, Bhanu, Masa, Michelle and Shu presented) and talks by Laura-Mae, Rosie, Nick and Ben.

5/12- Ben Garcia gives an invited talk at the 11th Annual Symposium of the New York University Center for Genomics & Systems Biology in New York, NY.

4/12- Tobias Maile has joined the group as a postdoctoral researcher, welcome Tobi.

4/12- The Garcia lab is mentioned in the article "Controlling The Code"  from ACS Chemical and Engineering news magazine which describes how pharmaceutical companies are becoming more interested in epigenetic space for drug discovery.  Former Garcia lab member Eric Chan is shown in a photo running an Orbitrap mass spectrometer.  Read about it here (http://cen.acs.org/articles/90/i16/Controlling-Code.html).

4/12- Ben Garcia gives an invited talk and short course lecture at the Netherlands Proteomics Centre in Utrecht University, Utrecht, Netherlands.

7/10- Ben Garcia attends the British Society for Proteome Research Conference held in Cambridge, United Kingdom.  Ben gives a Keynote talk on recent work involving histones and cancer. 

6/10- Congratulations to high school student Neeli Mishra, who has graduated and will be attending Caltech in the fall.

3/10- Neeli Mishra wins multiple awards including the Grand Prize at the 57th Mercer Science and Engineering Fair.  This qualifies her to compete at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in San Jose, CA.  Congrats Neeli!

3/10- Ben Garcia is named an Associate Editor of BMC Genomics (Proteomics section).

2/10- Peter DiMaggio and Nicolas Young have both been awarded National Institutes of Health F32 NRSA Postdoctoral Fellowships.  Congrats guys!

11/09- The Garcia group receives a New Jersey Commission on Cancer Research Seed Grant to study epigenetic changes in cancer cells.

11/09- Ben Garcia is invited to sit on an NIH review panel for high end instrumentation (mass spectrometry) for shared instrumentation grants under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

10/09- The Garcia group along with the Floudas (Chem. Eng.) and Rabinowitz (Chemistry and Genomics) groups are awarded a National Science Foundation Cyber-Enabled Discovery and Innovation grant under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

9/09- Ben Garcia attends the Ninth International Symposium on Mass Spectrometry in the Health & Life Sciences: Molecular & Cellular Proteomics in San Francisco, CA.  Ben gives an invited talk on quantitative proteomics applied to histone research.
