The Books
Tuesday, September 28, 2010 - 4:30pm
Princeton University Music Department: Woolworth - Room 102
The Books are a critically acclaimed music and multimedia duo consisting of guitarist and vocalist Nick Zammuto and cellist Paul de Jong. Their work begins with what Paul calls "a harvesting, a social-cultural farming" by collecting sounds and images from tapes found in thrift stores around the country. These recordings are rescued from certain extinction and given new life as the foundation for absurd (and absurdly beautiful) sound art disguised as abstract pop songs. The Books' legendary live show has always incorporated video as a primary element, creating an experience somewhere between a rock concert and a film.
The Books will give a presentation as part of the Princeton University Music Department's Composition Colloquium Series. To learn more about The Books and their current touring schedule, please visit www.thebooksmusic.com
