BEYOND ADRIATIC SHORES: ITALY AND THE EAST
Princeton University will host the Program in Italian Studies Graduate conference entitled “Beyond Adriatic Shores: Italy and The East” including an interdisciplinary panel presentation, chaired by Princeton Professor of Music and Director of the Program in Italian Studies, Wendy Heller, at 5PM on Sunday, April 28, 2013 in McAlpin Rehearsal Hall in the Woolworth Center. Scholars drawn from the Department of Music, the Department of East Asian Studies, the Program in Italian Studies and the Department of Art and Archaeology explore the influence of China in 18th century Venetian aesthetics.
At 7:30PM there will be a performance of selections from Vivaldi's Chinese-themed opera Teuzzone, featuring Princeton University undergraduate singers and an ensemble of Princeton University graduate students and local professionals performing on period instruments.
