Film Celebrating Music in Chicago and the Open Spirit of John Paul II to be Screened Out of Many, One, a Musical Offering from Chicago, in the Spirit of John Paul, a PBS concert created and conducted by Sir Gilbert Levine ’71, featuring the Chicago Symphony Chorus and the Lyric Opera of Chicago Orchestra performing Bach: Magnificat, Beethoven: Eroica and a setting of Psalm 91 by the late beloved Princeton composer Edward T. Cone ’39. It is the first time these two great Chicago musical ensembles have performed together. The film also includes on-air visits to such Chicago landmarks as the Art Institute of Chicago, St. Hyacinth Basilica, KAM Isaiah Synagogue, the Civic Opera House, as well as excerpts from Pope John Paul II’s October 5, 1979 homily in Grant Park on the quintessentially American theme of Out of Many, One.
