Chamber Choir: "Musik der Nacht"
(More about event)"Musik der Nacht"
Gabriel Crouch, conductor
Taplin Auditorium in Fine Hall, 8:00PM
Beside love, that perennial torment and muse for artists, there was no subject that provoked such a volume of music during the Romantic era as the night. This project, presented by the Princeton University Chamber Choir in Taplin Auditorium and conducted by Gabriel Crouch, draws together music which is inspired by the dangers of the darkness, the secrets, the promise of intrigue, the silence, the revelry, and the night's symbolic association with death. Alongside secular masterpieces by Schubert and Brahms in which the Chamber Choir will be joined by pianist Jennifer Tao and tenor David Kellett, the choir will perform is a set of pieces from the Baltic states of Finland and Estonia, and a ravishing late work by the British composer Sir Hubert Parry - 'Lord Let me Know mine End' from Songs of Farewell.
