Postdoctoral Fellowships

Postdoctoral Fellowship in the Department of Near Eastern Studies

Princeton University

The application deadline for postdoctoral fellowships starting in September 2013 has passed. Please check back in late summer for information on possible 2014 postdoctoral fellowships. What follows is last year's advertisement, and a future advertisement would likely be similar.

(Applications are invited for postdoctoral positions in the study of Iran and the Persianate world broadly defined. Initial appointment is for one year with the possibility of renewal for an additional year based on continued funding and satisfactory performance. Applicants must have the Ph.D. by September 1, 2013. Discipline is open, but the focus of research should concern Iran and/or the broader Persianate world. Successful candidates will be expected to contribute to the life of the Department in several ways, such as organizing an occasional small conference or workshop, teaching a limited number of courses (subject to approval by the Dean of the Faculty), advising some undergraduates in their independent work, and participating in outreach activities. However, the fellow is expected to devote the bulk of his or her time to research and publication, and to broadening his or her knowledge of the Middle East. Competitive salary plus benefits. The appointee will have a small research fund.

Applicants should apply online at http://jobs.princeton.edu by January 5, 2013, and submit a current C.V., a two-page personal statement, a three-page description of research and writing projects to be undertaken while at Princeton, and two sample papers or chapters, as well as contact information for three references.
