Facilities
Computing
Computing Facility: The PNI computing facility provides state-of-the-art equipment in support of PNI research by faculty, staff, students and collaborators. Upgraded in the summer and fall of 2009, the resoures include a compute cluster consisting of 416 processors and a 100TB central file server.
Cellular and Molecular
Drosophila Media: We have a modernized fly food kitchen with streamlined food production. Both Drosophila food and agar plates are continually available on a sign out basis from this location..
Flow Cytometry: Our facility provides access to the flow cytometers, technical support to assist in experimental design, data analysis and interpretation as well as development of novel flow cytometric based techniques.
Macromolecular Crystallography: We provide state of the art hardware and software support to those laboratories pursuing X-ray diffraction-based structural biology research.
Mass Spectrometry and Synthesizing/Sequencing: We provide state-of-the-art analytical services to researchers who demand sophisticated modern instrumentation in the area of nucleic acid and protein chemistry.
Human Neuroscience
EEG Laboratory: The Cognitive Electrophysiology Laboratory studies neuronal firing patterns via EEG (electroencephalography), giving it the locally known name of "EEG Lab".
Eye Tracking Laboratory: Our facility utilizes an ASL 5000 series remote optic system and EYENAL and FIXPLOT data analysis software.
Neuroimaging Facility: We have two research-dedicated scanners in our shared facility. The first is a 3 Tesla head-dedicated Siemens Allegra MRI scanner, with phased-array, head, and surface coils, capable of anatomic and functional MRI as well as proton NMR spectroscopy (MRS) and the second is a 3 Tesla Siemens Skyra MRI scanner, a whole body wide-bore clinical standard MRI scanner, equipped with current state-of-the-art transmit/receive system and a variety of RF coils, capable of anatomic and functional MRI and MRS.
TMS: Our facility includes a stereotactic guidance system for the Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) coil.
Systems
Confocal and Electron Microscopy Facility: We provide laser scanning confocal microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and sample preparation for scanning electron microscopy.
