Office of the General Counsel
Welcome to the Office of the General Counsel ("OGC"). Peter McDonough is Princeton University's General Counsel. Reporting to the President, he serves as the legal advisor to the University, with all University matters requiring legal advice, action or representation being referred to the General Counsel.
All administrative offices and academic units of the University, and all committees and individuals, performing University functions, should contact the OGC when they require legal advice or assistance or believe it may be prudent. Our attorneys serve as counsel for the University in litigation, administrative matters, and transactions, and retain and oversee all outside counsel engaged on behalf of the University.
Each of the office's attorneys serves a varied University constituency. The Areas of Practice page on this site offers an overview of our attorneys' primary areas of focus.
