NOTICE TO PRINCETON UNIVERSITY COMMUNITY
Please take notice that The Trustees of Princeton University has filed an application with the Superior Court of New Jersey, Chancery Division, Probate Part, Mercer County, New Jersey, seeking the modification or release of certain restrictions on gifts to Princeton University that may have become unlawful, impracticable, impossible to achieve, or wasteful. The Court is currently set to hear the matter on June 1, 2012, at 9:00 A.M., by the Honorable Paul Innes, P.J. Ch., at the Civil Court located at 175 South Broad St., Third (3rd) Floor, Trenton, New Jersey. The following gift is the subject of this application:

William H. Cane Scholarship Fund
The restrictions on the William H. Cane Scholarship Fund be modified or released so that the annual income of the fund may be used for financial assistance to Princeton students for undergraduate scholarships and graduate fellowships in the following order of preference: first, students from public high schools, or charter schools, of Hackensack, New Jersey, Bogota, New Jersey, Jersey City, New Jersey, and Goshen, New York; second, students from public high schools, or charter schools, in the State of New Jersey; third, students from private high schools of Hackensack, New Jersey, Bogota, New Jersey, Jersey City, New Jersey, and Goshen, New York; fourth, students from private high schools in the State of New Jersey; fifth, students who were residents of New Jersey at the time of admission to Princeton University but who attended high schools in other states; and sixth, students from high schools in Orange County, New York.
Copies of the Verified Complaint and Order to Show Cause in this matter may be obtained through the Office of General Counsel of Princeton University at the address and telephone number set forth below. Any party who wishes to be heard with respect to the proposed changes shall file with the Surrogate of Mercer County and serve upon the Office of General Counsel of Princeton University at the address set forth below, a written answer, an answering affidavit, a motion returnable on the date this matter is scheduled to be heard or other response to this Order to Show Cause and to the relief requested in the Verified Complaint by May 18, 2012. Filing shall be made at the following address: Surrogate of Mercer County, 175 South Broad St., 4th Floor, Trenton, New Jersey (mailing address: P.O. Box 8068, Trenton, New Jersey 08650-0068) and must include a filing fee of $110.00, payable to the Surrogate of Mercer County. Such responding party shall also file with such Surrogate by the foregoing date a proof of service of the responsive pleadings upon the Office of General Counsel of Princeton University.
