People in the Office: Overview
The office, which includes six lawyers in addition to the General Counsel and additional staff members, provides legal advice and counsel on the broad spectrum of legal issues that impact, involve, and arise at the University. The office is responsible for engaging the services of outside law firms for specialized legal needs, as the OGC determines, and for coordinating and supervising their work. The office's attorneys serve a varied University constituency. Please refer to the Areas of Practice page for more information.
Communications to OGC attorneys may be protected by the privilege for attorney-client communications, and therefore are confidential, if they are made for the purpose of seeking legal advice or counsel on behalf of the University. Absent other specific instructions by an OGC attorney, such communications should be shared with, or revealed only to other university officials, on a need-to-know basis.
