St. Andrew's Society of Philadelphia offers a $18,000 scholarship to students interested in studying for a year at one of four Scottish universities (St. Andrews, Aberdeen, Edinburgh, or Glasgow). Princeton is one of 18 schools that may nominate a candidate. Please see Dean Nancy Kanach by early February if you wish to be nominated for the scholarship.

Applications for the 2012 NanoJapan: International Research Experience for Undergraduates program are now open. Supported by an NSF Partnerships for International Research & Education grant, the program seeks to cultivate interest in nanotechnology among young U.S. undergraduate students, especially those from underrepresented groups, and encourages such students to pursue graduate study and academic research in the physical sciences. Deadline is January 27, 2012
Freeman-ASIA is designed to support American undergraduates with demonstrated financial need who are planning to study overseas in East or Southeast Asia. The program’s goal is to increase the number of Americans with first-hand exposure to and understanding of Asia and its peoples and cultures. The application deadline for summer 2012 is February 15, 2012.
Fulbright UK Summer Institutes 2012 are 3-6 week summer programs for freshmen or sophomores at UK universities or cultural institutions. Each institute provides an immersive academic, cultural, and social experience for students who wish to deepen their knowledge of the UK and its diverse population. The program covers costs including academic fees, travel, room and board, cultural visits. Check with the OIP for details about academic credit. Deadline is March 16, 2012.
The Graduate School of Science at the University of Tokyo's research project program (UTRIP) is a 6-week program with financial support for all participants (housing, airfare, and stipend). It is a challenging program intended for undergraduates thinking of pursuing long-term career goals in a scientific area. Application deadline is March 16, 2012.
RISE is a summer internship program for undergraduates in the sciences and engineering. It offers unique opportunities to work with research groups at universities and top research institutions across Germany for 2 to 3 months. The application deadline is January 31, 2012. No German required.
