Fellowship Advising

The Office of International Programs advises undergraduate students and alumni of Princeton University about fellowships, scholarships, and grants. The OIP coordinates all competitions that require institutional nomination to external programs and assists undergraduates who are seeking information regarding funding postgraduate study and research.

Director of Fellowship Advising Dr. Deirdre Moloney is available to advise Princeton students about fellowship opportunities and to assist with the application process. To make an advising appointment, visit Dr. Moloney's WASS calendar , call 8-1998, or stop by the OIP office at 36 University Place, Suite 350 (third floor of the U-Store Building).

Types of Fellowships

Postgraduate fellowships are funds designated by their donors to support graduate study, enable internships or service, or facilitate postgraduate travel and research abroad. A wide variety of opportunities are available. While many of these awards, such as the Rhodes and Fulbright, involve national competitions, some, such as the Sachs, Labouisse, Dale, and ReachOut56-81, are particular to Princeton.

If a fellowship indicates a campus deadline, the fellowship is either Princeton-specific or involves a (sometimes lengthy) process applicants must go through to be evaluated and forwarded to the national level. In some cases, applications must earn nomination or institutional endorsement from Princeton University.

While all awards are competitive, some are more competitive than others. It is important to look carefully at the requirements of each award and speak with advisers to determine which awards are appropriate for you.
