The Culture Fund of Zimbabwe Trust is an organization that provides financial and technical support to cultural practitioners, institutions, and activities with the ultimate aim of contributing to the development of the culture sector in Zimbabwe. The Culture Fund works within Zimbabwean society providing financial and technical support to arts and culture professionals. The Fund works with a wide range of projects and activities include festivals, exhibitions, theater, music performances, workshops, and others. The IIP intern will work within the programs department assisting with incoming grant applications as well as working to establish a database for the department. Specific responsibilities for the IIP intern may include: Grant Application Processing: preparation of grant offer letters and contracts, compilation of weekly project recommendations and updating grantee spreadsheets; Monitoring and Evaluation: monitoring and evaluation of funded projects, producing monitoring reports for projects monitored and attending to grantee queries; Information Management: management of resource center and attending to researchers and classification, filing, and shelving and retrieval of project files; Media and Publicity: contributing to media article development; and Workshops and Exhibitions: assisting with workshop coordination, representing the Culture Fund at stands during exhibitions, assisting Programs and Projects officer(s) in implementation of program activities and any other duties. One placement has been created for the an International Internship Program (IIP) intern.
First Floor Gallery Harare
Location: Harare, Zimbabwe
First Floor Gallery Harare is Zimbabwe’s first independent contemporary artist run gallery. It is a young and dynamic institution, which since its launch in 2009 has developed a strong profile of building and supporting emerging artists in Zimbabwe with innovative exhibitions as well as educational and audience engagement programming both in Zimbabwe and internationally. First Floor Gallery Harare is committed to supporting the development of a robust and sustainable visual arts sector in Zimbabwe as well as building viable professional and international careers for the artists they work with. An IIP intern joining the First Floor Gallery Harare will have the opportunity to contribute to a broad range of curatorial projects, educational programming, publishing and audience engagement projects as well as international initiatives. They will also receive broad exposure to the arts and culture sector in Harare and the opportunity to work with young artists and develop their own initiatives on the ground, in line with the gallery's overall aims and objectives. First Floor Gallery Harare is seeking highly motivated and multi-skilled IIP candidates with a problem-solving mindset and ability and/or willingness to work in unpredictable and unfamiliar surroundings requiring lateral thinking and cultural open-mindedness. Film-making and video editing skills would be an asset as would interests in art history. Two placements have been created for International Internship Program (IIP) interns.
