- Communications Technologies Group (CT): Established in 2005, CT strives to develop competitive and world-class wireless technologies and IPs for the industry. Focusing on Wireless/Mobile Miniaturized Multi-Mode Multi-Media Multi-Function (WM7F), CT addresses key trends and opportunities in wireless communications, such as high data rate high spectral efficiency transmission/reception for broadband wireless communications, ubiquitous radio access, and small form-factors for both sustaining and disruptive innovations.
- Enterprise & Consumer Electronics Group (ECE): Established as one of the focused technology domains under ASTRI in 2004, ECEstrives to create and expand Hong Kong’s core intellectual property for multimedia and to develop networked consumer electronics and applications. These dedicated efforts will enhance competitiveness of local industries, helping them move up the value chain and capture future jobs and business growth opportunities presented by the newly emerging worldwide wireless and multimedia consumer market. ECE has four major ongoing progras: Digital Home Technology, Mobile Multimedia Communications Technology, Multimedia Technology IP, Pervasive Service. Technology. Each program offers a suite of licensable products and platforms. ECE has also established a Digital Living Platform which hosts the Digital Living Lab and supports the Digital Living Consortium with active participation from industry. The Platform also serves as the marketing arm for the Group’s products and technologies.
- IC Design Group (ICD): ICD has about 100 members and a well-established infrastructure for carrying out advanced R&D in IC design and enabling technologies. ICD’s objective is to help enhance the competitiveness of the electronics industry in Hong Kong. There are three major research teams under ICD namely Portable Analog & Mixed Signal Design, Applied SoC Design and Optical Communication Circuit. The Group offers commercially competitive IPs and total turn-key IC solutions to customers. There are seven key technology initiatives under ICD: Power Management ICs and Technologies; Analog, Mixed Signal, and RF ICs and Technologies; High Speed Transceiver ICs & Technologies; Digital ICs, ASICs and Technologies; System on Chip Technologies; IC Design Enabling Technologies; High Performance Computing and Networking
- Material & Packaging Technologies Group (MPT): MPT focuses on developing high-value, next-generation technologies and products in the form of devices, components, modules and system integration that are differentiated mainly by material and packaging technologies. Since its establishment in 2005, MPT has launched 5 technology initiatives, namely: Display Systems, LED Lighting, Advanced Packaging Technologies, Photonic Components, and Device Fabrications. Building up material and packaging technology platforms will continuously spawn new and competitive applications in the long term. MPT’s goal is to lay foundation for Hong Kong and the PRD to become a major centre for designing and manufacturing next-generation devices and key components for worldwide ICT industries.
- Bio-Medical Electronics Team (BME): Established in 2009, BME specializes in performing focused and high quality R&D in bio-medical electronics for technology transfer to industry. The team has been set up with the objectives of becoming a strategic bio-medical technology partner of universities and industry, and an incubator of bio-medical talent and businesses. It also aims at fulfilling the mission of establishing Hong Kong and the Pearl River Delta as a leading and international center for bio-medical electronics. BME has three key technology initiatives (KTI) namely Neuro-Electronics, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, and Thermal Therapy Device and the following are the major projects undertaken under the KTIs: 0.5T Neonatal Magnetic Resonance Imaging System, MRI Incubator, Functional MR Imaging, Palpategram–MR Elastography, Thermal Therapy Apparatus & Devices for Surgical Applications, Therapeutic Temperature Regulator Mattress, Brain-vision Training Device.
