Žene Ženama (Women to Women) is a self- organized women's group which contributes to the development of civil society through empowerment of women and women's groups and advocates for respect of women's rights in both the private and public sphere. Žene Ženama has developed a program which integrates gender perspective in interpretation of human rights, democracy, feminism and for peaceful dialogue using unique and creative models focused on education and activities of women and women’s groups in the Bosnian and Herzegovinian context. The IIP intern will be involved in the aforementioned areas of social development amidst a post-conflict and transitional environment. From that perspective, the IIP intern will be familiarized with the role of women in security, justice and politics, gender based violence (GBV), female participation at all levels of decision-making and leadership, inclusion of the principle of equality in post-conflict and peacekeeping processes. The IIP intern can expect to be engaged through different tasks, depending on the project underway, at the time. Some of the projects currently underway are concerned with gender equality, UNSCR 1325 and peace building. Skills and experience in project development would be an asset. The organization encourages its interns to bring their academic background and knowledge in dialogue with the work and projects of the organization. For instance, an IIP intern's research could be packaged into a project proposal or literature for an anticipated project. IIP candidates with interests in social development, gender studies, human rights and/or international justice are encouraged to apply. One placement has been created for the International Internship Program.
Previous work responsibilities (in the words of the previous IIP intern): Translating from English to Bosnian. Designing pamphlets in Bosnian for distribution. Researching Domestic Violence Crisis Centers abroad and brainstorming the creation of one in Bosnia.
