IIP Placements in Poland
Department of Telecommunications, AGH University of Science and Technology
Location: Kraków, Poland
The Department of Telecommunications at AGH University of Science and Technology is an important center for education and research in communications technologies focusing on high-speed networking and services to the e-world. Specific research topics carried out at the Department of Telecommunications include multimedia communication systems, next generation Internet, and wireless 4G networks. IIP interns will be involved in one of the research projects (solving a specific task). Specific responsibilities may include but are not limited to the design and development of an application in Java/C++ or similar programming and the preparation of a survey/report on problems dealing with a given aspect of modern telelcommunications (i.e. the processing of digital signal in a specific application, still image, video sequence, etc.). An academic background in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science is preferred. Two placements have been established for IIP interns.
Previous work responsibilities (in the words of the previous IIP intern): Researched DAB and DAB+ radio systems. Wrote a report summarizing key points and requirements necessary for a possible implementation for research purposes. Implemented a simple graphical user interface for an open source DAB package.

The IIP intern will be responsible for a range of analytical activities including financial analysis, market analysis, due diligence, and more. This IIP internship will provide an intellectually challenging exposure to Cartesian Capital Group's investment philosophy, strategy, and discipline; a close look at companies in different sectors, and some travel in the region and possibly outside the region. This placement is appropriate for IIP candidates with strong analytic skills (not limited to financial skills; analytic skills from natural or social sciences or other disciplines are also relevant), a passion for learning, independent thinking, and a sense of collaboration. Skills in Spanish, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, and/or Turkish would be an asset, as would skills in financial modeling. One placement has been established for an International Internship Program (IIP) intern.
