Fundacion Salud por Derecho is a non-profit, independent foundation that uses a proactive approach to propose solutions and influence the design and implementation of public policies as they pertain to the right to public health and health care. The mission of Salud por Derecho is to encourage states to exercise their responsibility with people’s health in impoverished countries; to demand fulfillment of commitments undertaken by political representatives; to generate and promote solutions and influence and participate in the design and implementation of public policies to make them effective and to contribute to citizens’ being informed, involved and committed to making the right to health universal. IIP interns will be involved in the monitoring of the current global health situation through reading reports, writing briefings and translating any key documents and assist in the organization, logistical elements of events and working meetings. IIP candidates with interests in international relations, public health, human rights, politics, and advocacy are encouraged to apply. Spanish fluency in reading and writing as well as Spanish speaking skills would be an asset. Three placements have been established for IIP (International Internship Program) interns. This internship is offered in partnership with the Program in Global Health and Health Policy and can be used by GHP juniors for completion of the GHP Summer Research Requirement (please check the appropriate box on your application). Location: Malaga, Spain
The Olive Press in Spain is a well established newspaper and website set up and run by a former national newspaper journalist from London. It is ranked as the number one news organization in English in Spain and covers a range of topics, including news, investigations, crime, features, health and sports. IIP intern responsibilities will include a range of writing tasks, interviewing and research for feature and news stories for the paper and will provide IIP interns with an excellent idea of how local/regional newspapers run in Spain. Spanish reading, speaking and writing skills would be an asset, as would reporting or writing experience. Two placements have been established for International Internship Program (IIP) interns.
