Acción Emprendedora
Location: Santiago, Valparaiso, and Concepcion, Chile
Acción Emprendedora (AE) is a Chilean non-profit organization dedicated to breaking the chains of poverty through promoting and improving entrepreneurship. AE functions on a three-step development model for training and enabling microentrepreneurs--teaching business fundamentals, supporting and consulting businesses, and facilitating access to credit. IIP interns will work on projects that touch on one or more of these processes. AE’s interns have made a strong impact at AE over the past few years. From strengthening alumni networks, to interviewing micro-entrepreneurs for pilot programs, to microfinance research, all interns will work with Chilean entrepreneurs and produce valuable deliverables towards AE and/or AE’s business units. The position will require collaboration with the Chilean employees of AE, other undergraduate and MBA interns, AE's micro-entrepreneurs, and others. IIP interns must be self-motivated, independent workers who are proficient in Spanish and able to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment. The majority of internships are carried out in Santiago. Endeavor Chile
Locations: Santiago, Temuco, Antofagasta, Puerto Varas, and Concepcion, Chile
Endeavor transforms emerging countries by establishing high-impact entrepreneurship as the leading force for sustainable economic development. At Endeavor Chile, we search & select for high-impact entrepreneurs and then support them with services to improve their business models, expand their networks, and catalyze sustainable growth. IIP interns will have the opportunity to support the Search & Selection, Entrepreneur Services, Outreach, or Metrics Analysis team at one of the Endeavor offices. A detailed description of each position area is available in the IIP office. Endeavor Chile also spearheading an education initiative called “Aprendimiento”. The “Aprendimiento” program aspires to promote a culture of entrepreneurship within Chile by sponsoring programs that inspire and empower students to become responsible global citizens. The program supports IIP interns by fostering entrepreneurial values such as leadership, creativity, taking initiative, thinking “outside the box”, and trustworthiness. The IIP interns will learn to leverage their entrepreneurial spirit, identify opportunities for their future, and prepare for their future. IIP candidates interested in working on the education initiative would be staffed at the Puerto Varas office. This IIP placement is an ideal opportunity for IIP candidates with interests in entrepreneurship and Latin America. Skills and/ or experience in business would be an asset. Spanish proficiency is preferred, but not required. When applying interns should rank the offices at which they would be interested in working. IIP Interns should also specify if they are applying to work on the “Aprendimiento” education initiative. If an IIP intern is not applying to work on the education initiative,please indicate if you have a strong preference for supporting Endeavor in a certain focus area: Search & Selection, Entrepreneurship Services, Outreach, & Metrics Analysis. This placement is ideal for students with interest in entrepreneurship; Latin America and Latin American development, economic development, microfinance, finance, economics, engineering, business, management, public policy and/or information technology. Good knowledge of Spanish is required. Three placements have been created for International Internship Program (IIP) interns.
General Directorate of International Economic Relations
Location: Santiago, Chile
Chile has a broad network of international treaties and is an active player in different economic international fora. This intern will work for the Director of Multilateral Economic Affairs on projects that may include intellectual property, service, environment and trade, labor and trade, or investment issues. This internship is ideal for students with an interest/academic background in international business and/or international economic relations. One placement has been created for an International Internship Program (IIP) intern. Spanish language skills are required.
Un Techo para mi País
Location: Santiago, Chile
Un Techo para mi País (UTPMP) is a non-profit organization led by university students and young professionals. Through the construction of transitional houses, they work with families living in extreme poverty in a social inclusion process that allows them to develop as a sustainable community. This internship is based around three core areas (1) researching and submitting funding applications to donor bodies (2) assisting in developing communication materials and (3) coordinating events. IIP interns will also be responsible for formulating and seeing through innovative and creative means with which to raise funds. Specific responsibilities will include: updating contact and application databases, standardizing documents and translations, researching and contacting institutions, presenting applications for various projects in Latin American, and assisting the organization in the creation a strategy of local funds. IIP candidates should be proficient in Spanish, have some experience with translations, and must be proactive, creative and attentive to detail. Two placements have been established for International Internship Program (IIP) interns.
