Governmental Internships
Émigré Memorial German Internship Program
This is a well-established program of political internships, offered by CDS International, Inc. Applicants must be U.S. or Canadian citizens majoring in international affairs, political sciences, or similar fields. Internship are from 1 to 3 months with German Landtage -- German State Parliaments. Excellent German language skills are required. CDS provides students with a work permit, orientation, and a stipend to help with living expenses. Internships are also available in the German Bundestag, at the federal level (sponsored by DAAD).
French-American Chamber of Commerce
The FACC internship program for Americans in France brings together qualified young Americans aspiring to work in France and companies interested in hosting them as trainees or interns for up to 18 months. ICDP partners with French government agencies in order to assure quality service, and to assist candidates in obtaining the visa and work authorization they need as quickly as possible. In the administration of the internship program for Americans in France, FAAC works with the French Embassy Cultural Services in Washington, as well as the French immigration authority l'Office des Migrations Internationales in Paris. U.S. Chamber of Commerce
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world’s largest business federation representing more than three million businesses of all sizes, sectors, and regions. It includes hundreds of associations, thousands of local chambers, and more than 100 American Chambers of Commerce in 91 countries. U.S. Department of State
Unpaid summer internships abroad are available at certain U.S. embassies and consulates in the political, economic, or administrative sections. A minimum of 10 weeks is required, and interns are expected to work a 40-hour week. When available, the embassy or consulate may provide lodging. Deadline for receipt of application for summer internships is November 1.
USAID
USAID is an independent federal government agency that receives policy guidance from the Secretary of State to provide assistance to Africa, Asia, the Near East, Latin America and the Caribbean, Europe, and Eurasia. USAID operates from headquarters in Washington, D.C.
World Food Programme
Set up in 1963, WFP is the United Nations frontline agency in the fight against global hunger. The Agency also provides the logistics support necessary to get food aid to the right people at the right time and in the right place The agency works to put hunger at the centre of the international agenda, promoting policies, strategies and operations that directly benefit the poor and hungry. WFP offers an internship to students currently enrolled in a university having finished at least two years of his/her undergraduate studies and specializing in fields relevant to WFP activities.
Youth for Habitat International
The Youth for Habitat International Network is an umbrella organization operating at the international level through a Secretariat with focal points and resource persons in every region. It was created with the aim of coordinating youth participation in the United Nations Conference on Human Settlements (Habitat II) held in Istanbul, from 3-14 June 1996, the last UN Summit of the millennium. Youth Association for Habitat and Agenda 21 (YFHIN-Turkey) is serving as the secretariat of the network and implementing projects for Habitat Agenda and Agenda 21 at the national level.
Youth for Habitat Turkey welcomes interns within its LA21 Program, to participate in the local youth platforms through several activities at local, national or international levels. Activities include organizing workshops in several cities at the European level under the Youth Program of the EU Commission, organizing national youth meetings in specific cities to help young people participate in decision making processes, or influencing the local youth policies of local governments. Interns will also have the opportunity to get a three-day training by the Youth for Habitat Executive Board at the Youth for Habitat Headquarters in Istanbul before they begin their field work in different provinces. The Vice President of the Board is a Princeton alumnus.
