If you are studying abroad during the academic year or in a Princeton-sponsored summer study abroad program or have received funding to study, intern, research, or volunteer abroad, you should review University Travel policies.
As a condition of your sponsored participation in programs abroad, you are required to submit a Travel Request in Concur, Princeton's travel registration system. Please see the Undergraduate International Travel Checklist for step-by-step instructions for preparing for your travel abroad.
U.S. State Department Travel Warnings
Princeton University will not fund or sponsor undergraduate student travel to countries on the U.S. State Department Warning List or to countries where the United States has issued travel restrictions.
Students who have a compelling educational reason to travel to such countries may submit an individual exemption request (.pdf). This request will include detailed information about the proposed travel as well a letter of support from a faculty member. In addition, you will need to submit an Addendum to the Travel Terms and Conditions (.pdf), signed by you and a parent. Please e-mail forms and letters of support to Nancy A. Kanach, Senior Associate Dean of the College at email@example.com and cc: Chris Burkmar, Executive Director of Planning and Administration for the Office of the Vice President of Campus Life at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Note: The travel exemption process is a time intensive process. Travelers should allow at least four weeks for the review process.
Vehicle Use and Rental
Undergraduate students may not rent or drive cars or motorbikes in foreign countries, or be driven by graduate students (exception: Canada).
