Princeton Study Abroad Approval Application
Please complete Parts I (online), II, and III
- Part I: Online Study Abroad Approval Application
- Part II: Essay and Additional Information (.pdf)
- Part III: Study Abroad Proposal (.pdf)
Students intending to study abroad during the academic year must complete the three-part Study Approval Application by May 1 for fall semester or academic year abroad and November 1 for spring semester abroad. Note: The Study Abroad Approval Application is NOT required for summer study abroad.
Most students learn of their acceptance to a particular program before they submit the Princeton approval form. If, however, you are not certain which program you will pursue, you should submit a Princeton approval form for all the programs that you are considering.
The Committee on Examinations and Standing grants final approval of your program. If you meet the eligibility requirements and have departmental support, you are very likely to be approved for study abroad. (Please note that the committee carefully reviews each student's academic and disciplinary record. Students who are not in good disciplinary standing may be deemed ineligible to study even if they meet the academic requirements.)
The Office of International Programs will send you an official letter of acceptance once your proposal is approved by the committee, with copies sent to your family, academic department, independent work adviser, and the Student Accounts Office. The acceptance letter contains information about academic requirements that must be fulfilled abroad as well as University fees.
