Antioch Program, Buddhist Studies
Location: Bodh Gaya
Dates: fall only, early September to mid-December
Language of instruction: English
Courses: anthropology, Buddhist philosophy, Hindi and Tibetan language, history of Buddhism, meditation traditions, and field studies

Other information: evaluation on file. This program has been popular with religion majors. The program begins with a three-day orientation in London followed by an orientation in Delhi.

Courses: chemistry, economics, English, Hindi, history, Indian literature, mathematics, philosophy, physics, and Sanskrit.

Other information: evaluation on file. All students participate in a month-long language orientation program that serves as an intensive introduction to the Hindi language. The Landour Language Program takes place outside the city in Musoorie. Students continue to study Hindi after the orientation course. Alliance for Global Education (Contemporary India: Development, Environment, Public Health)
Location: Pune
Dates: late August to mid-December for fall; mid-January to mid-May for spring
Language of instruction: English
Courses: two required courses (Contemporary India and Directed Research) plus two electives, Hindi language
Housing: apartments with Alliance students or Indian students, homestay
Application deadlines: October 15 for spring; April 15 for fall/year
Other information: recommended for students pursuing a certificate in Southeast Asian Studies; optional non-credit classes in yoga, Kathak dance or Bharatnatyam, classical vocals, musical instrument, or another cultural activity. Note that the internship cannot be taken for credit.
