Summer Study Abroad
Many Princeton students choose to study abroad during the summer, in many cases in addition to spending a semester or a year abroad. Students planning to study abroad for a semester or year in a non-English-speaking program sometimes spend a summer abroad working on their language skills prior to enrolling in a semester program.
Students may take advantage of Princeton summer study abroad programs, offered by a variety of departments. If you are looking for non-Princeton courses that will qualify for Princeton credit, you should turn your attention to programs that have been approved for students during the academic year; many of them also have summer sessions. Additionally, the Office of International Programs has produced, in consultation with the relevant departments, lists of recommended summer language programs as well as a list of summer programs that the OIP believes are worth a good look.
Remember that all summer courses (unless they are offered by Princeton) must be preapproved by the appropriate departmental representative and a dean or director of studies for Princeton credit.
