Types of Programs

Your choice of program type will depend largely on your reasons for studying abroad. As a rule of thumb, it is best to study in an environment that will give you maximum exposure to the culture and language of the host country. As you look through the available options for study abroad, you will find that they can be divided into three general categories:

  1. Fully integrated programs at foreign universities
  2. Programs designed specifically for U.S. college students
  3. Hybrid programs allowing enrollment in regular courses at a foreign university plus special courses offered for U.S. college students only.
