Now, Google Drive at Princeton for Grad Students, Faculty and Staff

Princeton Google DriveYou’ve asked for tools to support collaboration and sharing and for the ability to access your files from anywhere, and now we bring you Princeton Google Drive.

As of this month, Princeton graduate students, faculty, and staff are eligible for Princeton Google Drive accounts. These accounts offer both the Google Drive and Google Sites apps, and the specialty tools that go along with them.

Google Drive makes it easy to share files with colleagues on campus and off. It also supports simultaneous collaborative authoring, so you can work in real-time with others to produce documents, spreadsheets, and presentations. With Drive, you can access and synchronize files across all your devices and, because your files are stored in the cloud, you have convenient access to them from just about anywhere.

Google Sites provides a 'web' place and the tools for you to design your own website.

What makes a Princeton Google Account better than a personal account?

The answer to this question is--quite a bit. Princeton entered into negotiations with Google to provide our campus with robust and secure accounts. Here are just a few reasons to go with Princeton Google Drive over a personal Google account:

  • 30 GB of storage (double the storage of a typical Google account).
  • Fully supported by OIT’s many technology support teams. Issues with your Princeton Google Drive are ours to solve.
  • More secure. Better protected. And, again, more secure.

Getting your account

Graduate students, faculty, and staff can request their accounts online:

  • Wednesday, February 12, noon to 1pm
  • Monday, February 17, 4pm – 5pm

Both are being held in the McGraw Center Classroom, Frist 330.  Register for a session and read more at the Center’s blog: BONUS: Google Drive for Faculty, Staff, and Graduate Students.
